This is not the first time that I faced the US consulate. First, I had H4 visa application (Visa for family members of H-1B visa holder). Second, my first US Tourist Visa attempt back in December 2015 and third, my approved B1/B2 Visa.

At the best that I can recall, here’s my US Embassy Tourist Visa Interview experience in October 2016. I drafted this right after the interview as I know many of my friends and relatives will ask how was my interview went.

Consul: Why do you want to go to USA?

Ekha: It’s Christmas time and I want to spend it my family for two weeks

C: Who are your relatives in US?

E: My father, mother and sister

C: Do you have plans to immigrate?

E: No, not at all

C: WHY? (Kinda shocked with big eyes)

E: Because I have a boyfriend here and we have plans to marry soon, in two years time

C: What do you do for a living?

E: I’m a network engineer in a multi-national company

C: How long do you work in this company?

E: Almost 2 yrs

C: How long do you work in this industry?

E: 4 years

C: Where is your previous company?

E: In [insert Company Name], Muntinlupa, Ph

C: What is your company name again?

E: [insert current Company Name]

C: How long do you plan to stay in US?

E: 2 weeks only because that’s only the remaining leaves I have for the year and I have to go back by New Year to celebrate with my boyfriend

C: Did your boyfriend already proposed to you?

E: Not yet, but we have plans to get married in 2 years time and we want to settle here (My point here is to show a strong tie)

Consul: Okay then, ENJOY! (Grabs my passport to his side)

Ekha: Thank you (trembling)

️In God’s perfect time, I was able to celebrate Christmas with my family.

Hope this helps a lot. Good luck on the interview!
